Stream Preset Help - UDP

Preset tutorial

Getting started:

This preset is designed for streaming to devices across a LAN, such as set-top boxes or PCs.  Efficient streaming to multiple devices can be achieved when streaming to a multicast IP address (see below)

Entering UDP details:

IP address type

    INTERNAL ADAPTER
When this option is selected the IP adapter property will become visible.

    CUSTOM
When this option is selected the IP option becomes visible.
This allows custom setting of the destination IP address.

IP adapter      (only visible when IP address type = INTERNAL ADAPTER)

This allows for a quick selection of any of the local machines
internal adapters.  This is particularly useful in testing or when
streaming to a virtual network adapter

IP                  (only visible when IP address type = CUSTOM)

This is the IP address to stream to.  To stream to a single device,
specify the IP of the device here.

If you wish to stream to multiple devices you can specify a multicast
IP address.  This must be in the range 239.0.0.0 .. 239.255.255.255

Port

This is the Port to stream on.

Examples:

    UDP Multicast to VLC:

        In MX Light UDP preset:
            IP address type = CUSTOM
            IP = 239.0.0.1
            Port = 20000
            Video move = HARDWARE DIRECT
            Audio mode = HARDWARE DIRECT

        In VLC:
            Media > Open Network Stream = udp://@239.0.0.1:20000

Audio / Video Options

Video Mode

   =[ HARDWARE DIRECT ]
Video output is a direct copy of the hardware encoded video stream.
   =[ RE-ENCODE ]
Video output is a re-encoded version of the input video stream.
Allowing custom cropping, keyframe interval, CBR/VBR selection &
       profile setup.

Audio Mode

   =[ HARDWARE DIRECT ]
Audio output is a direct copy of the hardware encoded audio stream.
   =[ RE-ENCODE ]
Audio output is a re-encoded version of the input audio stream.
This achieves better compatibility with some devices /
       video player software.
